Issue#2270: Linux - [SOLVED] timelapse to video fail due to power outage

  • Ladies & Gents,

As always, much thanks and gratitude to those who provide guidance helping us that don't quite get it yet.

That said; I have a some 6000 photos that were captured from a usb camera using motion, but something happened with the power to the laptop and so the output video was never created as in my tests. So now I need to turn these into a video for import to kdenlive as part of a larger construction experiment.

I have ffmpeg installed and I tried from the director where the files are stored
    Code:

    ffmpeg -y -i *.jpg imagestovideo.mpg
but clearly something is not right with that command as I get this error
    Code:

The examples at http://photo.stackexchange.com/quest...raphs-in-linux and http://hamelot.co.uk/visualization/u...-into-a-video/ and others show using %d in the command line but when I try that the video files are not found. I assumed that *.jpg would use all the files in the directory ffmpeg was run from, it seams I was wrong.

In the one example they have pic%04d.png which is for padding zeros to the file name , in their case all the files start with pic followed by a number string. In my case each files starts with a number string and zero padding is not needed as far as I can tell. The file names go as
    Code:

    01-20160122091158-05.jpg
    01-20160122091158-15.jpg
    01-20160122091158-25.jpg
    01-20160122091159-05.jpg
    01-20160122091159-15.jpg
    .....some 6280 files later
    43-20160122122155-23.jpg
    43-20160122122156-03.jpg
    43-20160122122156-13.jpg

I don't know what causes the name to change from 01 to 02 and so on to 43. The rest of the file name I gather is a time/date stamp. Looking at those assumed time/date stamp names makes me think that I may need to rename the files by actual creation time. Although the photos were taken from the command line with
    Code:

    [email protected]:~/path/to/folder$ motion
so I assumed that the files were named in sequence correctly. But that is not really an issue at this point because ffmpeg is not generating the video for me.

    Any pointers?

Do I need to set a framerate or image size for ffmpeg? Some websites indicate that is not needed.

    Thanks

  • Issue#11169: Linux - Centos 6 boot problem after power outage

Hi, Last week we lost power several times during a storm. When I rebooted my Centos 6 server all was fine but I did see that /var/log/messages had a number of messages relating to SATA. After a trawl around a few forums I found no obvious answer but someone suggested reseating all the SATA cables. I did this and that message went away but I got another, longer, error which only appeared once two days ago. No more messages but this morning I noticed that my backups had not worked and the reason was that one of my disks was unresponsive. I tried rebooting and got absolutely nothing - the system hangs. I booted from a live CD I have kicking around (Mint) and was able to mount all the individual disk partitions (including the troublesome disk). Still, I edited fstab to remove this disk which and rebooted back into Centos. Nothing! I tried CTRl-ALT-F2 but that shows nothing either. After a bit of thought I realise I didn't see a grub prompt so I am beginning to wonder whether the boot pa

  • Issue#247489: Radio Control - Shaky FPV video issue SOLVED

Hey guys, This is my first post on RC Groups and I'm sure I will be properly reprimanded for posting this thread in the wrong location, but I'll learn my way around eventually. I just HAD to post this (Super HAD, you could say;)) because of the frustration I went through trying to solve an issue. If anyone out there is using the Foxeer XAT600M DC5V-22V 600tvl Sony Super HAD CCD FPV Camera (or one of similar construction; I'm sure there are many), and has been having issues with shaky video, I might have a solution for you. I tuned my copter (Hellbender 122, 4s) as best I could and it seemed to fly fine, except for this annoying shakiness in the live fpv video. For a long time, I assumed this was a tuning issue or a motor/prop vibration issue (or a naze rev6 issue). It would present itself more or less with different throttle amounts but was almost always present. The back cover of the camera has two screws (top right corner and bottom left corner) that hold on the cover but also sa

I purchased a PS3 slim from a game store's broken bin. I've fixed a few from them. This one's issue appears more serious. When I plug it in, the red light doesn't immediately come on. It takes around a minute or so for that to come up. When I press the power button, the green light comes on and I get a beep. I've held it for around a minute and not get a second or third beep to reset the video or enter safe mode. It also take a while for the fans to start spinning. I get no video or audio. I have to let go of the power button and press and hold it again for a while to get it to shut off. The power button doesn't always seem to respond. I tried powering it up and getting the above results. I looked at it and found it didn't have a hard drive. I tried powering it on with a hard drive, but that didn't do anything. I'm not really sure what is wrong with this one.

The only solution was to log in and delete the offending folder. But what to do if it occurs again? I created a logoff script and added it to that machine via gpedit.msc. Morning all! I've had trouble with the sddm greeter bailing after I completed an upgrade from 14.1 to 14.2. At some point, I'd installed Alien Bob's build of sddm - and promptly forgotten about it. It was somewhat confusing when I couldn't find sddm in the slackware64-14.2 distro. After the upgrade, I could run startx but could *not* successfully execute sddm. After a couple of hours of trying to build a new version of sddm I resorted to just running with Alien Bob's original build script and the 20140508git source. (The newer release of sddm would require several additional dependencies to be built - I'll do it one day but not at present.) The upgrade also broke bibtex and biber which I use extensively. I replaced the packaged version of biblatex with the latest from CTAN, and V5.2 of biber. (A few perl modules and LaTeX packages were also required). All work as required. Cheers, Spiro

  • Issue#2323: Linux - [SOLVED] OpenCV slackbuild fails on Slackware64-current

I'm using ponce's slackbuild. It fails with these errors: Code: /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/../../../../x86_64-slackware-linux/bin/ld: warning: libicui18n.so.51, needed by /usr/lib64/libQt5Core.so.5, not found (try using -rpath or -rpath-link) /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/../../../../x86_64-slackware-linux/bin/ld: warning: libicuuc.so.51, needed by /usr/lib64/libQt5Core.so.5, not found (try using -rpath or -rpath-link) /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-slackware-linux/5.3.0/../../../../x86_64-slackware-linux/bin/ld: warning: libicudata.so.51, needed by /usr/lib64/libQt5Core.so.5, not found (try using -rpath or -rpath-link) I have *.so.56 versions of these libraries. How do I determine which package(s) these libraries belong to and where do I go to get the proper version? I'm trying to get digikam install for the record. It requires opencv.
