Issue#695040: Ubuntu - Intel Wireless 7265, iwlwifi iwlmvm poor performance sorta fix and notes

  • ISSUES and sum basic notes;
    So my intel 7265D card on Ubuntu 14-16 on ASUS Q552 laptop, has had poor network performance on certain AP's and horrible signal quality issues. The iwlwifi backports not only didnt help solve any of the problems but it also broke all regulatory domain stuff. Ive tried all the different kernel versions, from 3.19 to 4.16. Many different firmwares as well. I just recently read that iwlwifi-7265D-17.ucode (CORE14) is the official firmware version for intel 7265D and all bug fixes will be included in future releases of that version. Even tho the newer drivers and firmware will work this is the one that should be used. Ive edited /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf | iwlmvm.conf putting power to max and even disabling 802.11n none helped (disabling 802.11n helped a little)
    A FIX! sorta;
    So and this is gonna read backwards so ill reiterate. If Im running ON battery it works great! but I plug it in and signal goes to crap and no surfing (or very little) then disconnect and constantly asks for password again. I assume there sum sorta noise being produced by the PSU (probly on ground) but im hoping there might be a logical other reason. I know i have had to turn off usb autosuspend and other power management for wireless cards in the past, is there anything like that, that may explain this issue and solution? Anybody know what if any changes happen to the 7265D when switched to battery? TX/RX limits changing (even if specified not to in /etc/modprobe.d) and if so how i can make them happen when plugged into AC.
    Thank you and also Im fairly new to forums I hope I didnt do anything incorrectly.

    Hello, I've been having some issues with the AC 7265 card seemingly having throughput/connectivity issues.   I've reference the document AC-7265 Frequent disconnects/Painfully slow when connected and changed most of those settings.  I currently have configured: U-APSD Support - DisabledTransmit Power - HighestPreferred Band - 5.2GhzWireless Mode - 802.11a/b/gHT Mode - VHTAd Hoc QOS Mode - WMM DisabledI've also configured the PC to not be allowed to turn of the network adapter to save power in the device manager. My wireless network has really good 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz coverage with 20Mhz channels only. I'm also running the latest driver for AC-7265 (  The scenario I came across today: The card was connected on the 5Ghz frequency.The laptop was connected for roughly 23 hours straight to the same AP.The client was connected with very good signal strength of -63 RSSI with a SNR of 29 on AP1.  I observed really high latency and lots of ping

  • Issue#19807: Ubuntu - performance issue woth 15.10

    Hi, i just recently got a new HD and installed 15.10 but it is incredibly slow. The widows take about 3-5 seconds to appear and the text is way behind what I am typing...and I am a terrible typer..... heres my set up: Intel Pentium 4 3 Gz 4 GB ram Gforce 5200 wired connection I have tried many installs over the past 3 days and cannot get the problem solved. The closest I got was installing the LXDE on top of 15;10 and it seemed to work ok, but some of the panel buttons would not work. Namely the shutdown/restart...I tried some fixes, got it royally jacked up, installed yet again. Obviously I am not an advanced user, but it seems from what I have read that this setup should run 15 ok. I think there is an issue with the video card (see, told ya) as well as the driver for the processor. (It was spiking 85-100 while I was just looking for answers online). I am not gaming on this, I just wanted to use this old box for something fun and useful -- it is now the opposite of both....

    When I first got my Spectre x360 about a month ago (came with Windows 10 pre installed) the WiFi dropped every few minutes. I updated the drivers and thought the issue was fixed. Now I'm having a similar problem. Around 1030-1130 every night the WiFi will drop completely for several minutes and fail to find any connections, or it will find any connection except my own WiFi. Sporadically throughout the day it will have the same issue and drop completely or stay connected but say "no internet connection available. I also experience lag spikes every few minutes while playing onlinegames. It takes 5-10 minutes for it to find my wifi again and establish a connection, restarting does nothing. All my drivers and Windows are up to date. Other devices such as my phone and PS4 stay connected just fine at the same distances.  Please help.

  • Issue#219884: Ubuntu - Intel Wireless 8260 fails after suspend

    Hello, I have an Alienware 15 R2 with the Intel 8260 3x3 802.11ac card. The card works fine on Ubuntu 15.10 except that after suspend it does not work at all. Steps I have tried: 1. I have added iwlwifi to SUSPEND_MODULES in /etc/pm/config.d/modules 1. a. I confirmed in /var/log that the module was removed and added before and after sleep 1. b. I have manually Code: modprobe -r iwlwifi before suspend and re-added it after. 2. I upgraded to kernel 4.3.6 and installed the latest firmware iwlwifi-8000-ucode-16.242414.0 from into /lib/firmware and confirmed that it loaded the correct version via ethtool -i wlp60s0 3. I tried Code: modprobe -r btintel before suspen, but that also caused no change. • Issue#250302: [xubuntu] Dell XPS 15 issues with Intel Wireless 7260 iwlwifi

    Hello All. I'm having some trouble with my Intel Wireless 7260 (rev 6b) wireless adapter inside my 2015 Dell XPS 15 laptop. The machine is single boot Xubuntu, and I use the machine daily. I am just finishing my Ph.D (ironically, in wireless sensor networks) and so find myself working in libraries with Wi-Fi. Although the Wi-Fi in the laptop works, it fails frequently. I have read mention that the driver is crashing, but I haven't yet been able to confirm this. As I write now, the connection has been stable for around 10 minutes; sometimes, however, it falls over within a minute of connecting. I will check dmesg next time to see what happens. I find that forcing a re-scan of wireless (sudo iwlist wlan0 scan) usually fixes the problem, and it reconnects. Other times, it requires me to use the nm-applet to disable and enable Wi-Fi before it will reconnect. The issue seems worse after the machine has been suspended/hibernating. The network seems more reliable following a proper boot. A

    I just upgraded my laptop wireless adapter from "Broadcom BCM43142" to "Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac" upon confirmed that the new card is supported from service manual.  Both latest Intel wireless and bluetooth drivers are installed ( and 18.1.1611.3223 respectively). AC connection works perfectly fine; however, the bluetooth seems to be having issue here.  For pairing and maintain active connection between bluetooth device and laptop, I have to put them right next to each other literally.  Any distance more than 10cm apart, the bluetooth device will be inactive and unusable.  I don't have such problem with Broadcom which I can perform pairing and maintain active connection even a meter apart.  Does anybody face the same issue before with Intel AC 3160 bluetooth?  Or is this a hardware issue with the card itself?

  • Issue#526938: Ubuntu - Poor sound quality with Intel HDA?

    I saw this thread, but I decided it was old enough to warrant a new question for the current Ubuntu version. And besides, his relevant specs didn't match mine, so I didn't think it would help. I recently built myself a beefy new system and put Ubuntu 14.04 on it. Little did I know that Intel HDA has absolute **** support on Linux, but after 4 days of pure headache, I managed to get it working, by updating the kernel to 4.2.0-35-generic as described here (linking for people coming here with the same issue as I had). Now, I'm by no means an audiophile, and I just managed to get this working after 4 days of having no sound, so the last thing I should complain about is the sound quality being just a little bit off with the new system. Like, 32bit against 64bit sound. But it still bothers me. How do I fix it? My codec is Realtek ALC887-VD.
